Our tour
left Zurich with our first stop in Vaduz, Lichtenstein.
Here I am
in the main square of this small quaint village.

A
beautiful mountain home outside Schlos Vaduz.

Mozart
statute in the main square of Salzburg.

Mozart's
birth house in downtown Salzburg.

John
shares a moment with Mozart in the square in Salzburg!

Hitler's
mountain retreat, Eagle's nest. The site of the filming of the
Sound of Music was on the way to our next stop.

Standing
by the cross located up on the mountain above the Eagle's Nest.
It
was on the cross mountain trail used by hikers.

The
Austrian State Opera House in Vienna.
A very impressive building.

Another
Mozart statute in one of the city parks in Vienna.

A fountain
in a city park near the government buildings in Vienna.

A huge
Ferris wheel in a city park near the Danube River. It is called
Das
Wiener Riesenrad. A fun ride with a great view of the city of
Vienna.

Lienz,
Austria on our way to a quick run through Northern Italy.

Looking
toward the Dolomites in Northern Italy.

The
Dolomites as seen from Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy.
A beautiful
mountain town.

I love
Cortina D'Ampezzo and did not want to leave.

On to
Zermatt and the Matterhorn via a stop in San Moritz
where my bed
fell apart. That made for a short night.

This
picture is of the "Matterhorn" of Switzerland. We were on the
top
of the Klein Matterhorn on Labor day, September 4, 2000.
It was
cool and sunny but glorious! There were hundreds of people
mountain
climbing and skiing on the nearby slopes and mountains.
You could
see Mont Blanc in the distance over in France.

My new gal
Josephine. She rode up with us on the cable car.
Then we had
pictures taken with her. She was a real ham.
It was instant love
for me.

A great
day to see the Alps. We rode on two
different cable cars to get to
the top.

The next
morning at 8:00 am, a chance for
one last
look at the Matterhorn.

On to
Geneva. This is the headquarters of the United
Nations. Our tour
is winding down.

Standing
on a bridge over looking Bern, Switzerland.

Luzerne,
Switzerland. The famous Lion Monument. It is dedicated
to Swiss
soldiers who lost their lives in various wars.
From
Luzerne we went to stay in Engelberg. It is a small
village in the
mountains about 45 minutes from Luzerne. We day
tripped to Luzerne
for a couple of days before heading
to the airport in Zurich for our
trip home.
A
wonderful travel experience. I would recommend it to everyone.
